just a thought

I think when i see the sunset, where the time goes... is already July, one of my fav months, i guess is also because it means vacations but also because it comes the rain, everything goes green and fresh and just hush away the horrible heat... Is also time to rethink the plans of the year, should i continue with a particular project? did i already finish one of my purpose of the year?, is just half year, i'll keep my personal goals close and work on it but in the mean time, before the sunset i'll try to make my best...

weekends are for...

My sister had a great idea for this past weekend, she decided to envite a friend, my mom and i for spending the sunday just sewing... so my nephews went their grandma otherwise we couldn't work in our projects...
I should do something like this more often! not so long ago, a friend and i was trying to catch up for spend a day just embroidering, although he is kinda busy, but well, we haven't meet but we still want to work on that...
So the sunday was just sewing, talking, drinking plenty coffee and just having a great time. I couldn't finish my quilt, to be sincere, i stared the quilt like almost 2 years ago, i designed the pattern with some scraps that my sister gave me.
I knew that it was not gonna be a big quilt, but well, when i was almost to finish to sew all the blocks i just realized that i needed one more block... darn! just one! so i made one with some fabric that my sister had there and... well, it didn't match, the measures are smaller (funny, i just took the measures of one of the blocks) so, is a quilt in progress, i do really hope to finish it soon and then... finish another quilt that i've got on progress! i'm a case, i know...

we are the rainbow...

My state is conservative, very religious so close to be fanatics, is the mexican capital of the macho stereotype, the iconic image of what may think mexican mariachi music... in a very ironic way is also the capital of gay community (mexican version of San Francisco..) i don't care and i don't mind that image, i guess some people can feel uncomfortable about that...
I just embrace the rainbow 🌈with what diversity could means: tolerance, love, respect, freedom, support, decision, acceptance, empathy...
This past weekend, i went to the gay pride parade not just to support my family and friends but also to be there and demand basic human rights to our government...

my first baby quilt...

If it wasn't because my sister, i've may probably never been interested in quilts, it's funny because my mom teached me how to sew although my sister wasn't interested to learned... guess she changed her mind and now she is pretty badass making quilts... well, she showed me and teach me a few things, log cabin, tricks, do and don't about sewing quilts, also my mom helped a lot, she learned basic sewing things but also how to make patterns from scratch, due her family couldn't afford her classes, she just learned by herself...
I made a few little things like cushions but it was just very basic, not a bigger quilt than that... So when the year started i decided to make a baby quilt for a couple of friends, i choosed very random but fresh colors, because i didn't know if it was a baby girl o boy.. and after a month i was already finished "the hardest" part, i was asking my sister if she can help me to do the rest but she was pretty busy doing the makeover on her house, so well, time flies..

A week ago my friends organized a baby shower, i wasn't finish the quilt, i didn't know how to do it but then, my mom just told me that she know how to do the rest of the baby quilt... seriously! i knew that it was going to be full time work for this but didn't know how much!... i'm gonna make the story short, we just finished the quilt in 18 hours or less... yup! my mom is such a badass with super sewing powers!! i'm so grateful to her

Vintage is the reason...

If you are the kind of person with a big conscience with the nature and with the whole planet you may be agree with this post...
I can't considere myself a person who is fully concern with my planet, if i could i can use some of my fridge waste into compost, but i live in an apt, i really don't have much space for compost, my second option is just save it to my sis's chickens... but also is not just about food and else, i recently read that most of the countries toss a lot of clothes to the garbage!, and this clothes are perfectly fine... good to see that there's a lot of tutorials on internet about recycle and reuse old clothes, have you tried to do one of this tutorials?
by other hand, part of the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle is just about that... no wonder why a lot of people have this great exchange store and bazaar of vintage stuff, of course my favorite part is just clothes and shoes..!

There's a few on my hometown but every sunday there's a huge flea market with tons of stuff! my dad can be an aficionado of it! and what about me? well, i've got some treasures for my own, clothes that use to belong of my aunts or my mom, and recently, after been pushing myself to sell something else than my buntings and embroidery garlands i decided to put a few of some vintage stuff in my etsy shop...

oldie but goldie...

i realized that my musical taste depends so much on my mood, recently i just discovered that a few songs that i looove was singed by Elton John, and seriously i was so surprised! damn! why nobody told me about it?! i've been watching this video several times and is so beautiful! (guess who's gonna run to get a greatest hits album??)..
And now, i'm seriously thinking to go like Elton John (in the 70's style..) to a costume party!...

Enjoy the song..

this days...

I've been busy this past days, i would love to say that i've been just hanging out but, i barely had time to, instead of that i've been working in an art project that i've got on mind since... mmmm can't remember! but maybe 2 years ago... things are like this when involves creativity and an art project, of course the idea comes first (not like the egg and the chickin' thing..) and to be sincere i totally know what to do! is about portraits but i must to justify everything and not leave things in a random way... so anyway, it requires time, like everything tho...
While i was working on this, i spend a few days at my sister's place, she went out to vacations so i stayed at home with doggies and chickens... today was the deadline, just gonna cross fingers, this are a few shots from the past weeks... and yup! is a little chicken hatching, i must to confess i feel so surprised! like a child!...

MACO means...

i promise this is my last post of my trip to Oaxaca... if i told you that before to go here i was just thinking with my stomach, drooling for all the great food i'll eat and this is a confession, i gain weight and i have no regret about that! i still drool for the food, if someone can go there for sure they will no let me lie and taste the best mole negro ever..!
Now, i've got to go back with this post... first let me tell you that Oaxaca had a strong tradition or should i say that they had the best and great printmakers and engravers from all over the country! it also had open studio and printing press so the people can access to work in this studios, and they also encourage to join to classes and learn more... we knew about that because Toledo gave to the Oaxaca's Government his house so the people can go and keep working there..
But MACO means Contemporary Art Museum of Oaxaca, with it's main artist Toledo, we walked by over there and is so stunning! the pieces, the place everything.. i was so surprised to see a piece of a friend of mine (i feel very proud of him..!) and also we were so lucky to be on the opening of the exhibition of Sibylle Bergemann, her daughter was explaining the artworks! seriously! it was impossible to not fall in love on this museum!

Oh May i bring you some colors..?

I've been melting down here!! is still spring but gosh! is like summer, considering that our Summer Indians are in June (or July..) is hot here..33℃ !! and possible goes worst... but anyway, sunblock is my friend and i'll go out to the street like a glazed duck  with tons of sunblock... this past week i was working as a judge in child's art contest and gosh! i was amazed about how gorgeous colors and great artworks!... The theme was "my neighborhood", and from that you can imagine what kind of works can create since their point of view...
My task was to evaluate of course the theme, the creativity and the skills because it was kids with different ages, it was divided into 2 categories, 6 to 9 years old and 10 to 14...
I wasn't the only judge but we coincided that the little ones were the best using the colors... and after been working with this, it seriously makes me think and appreciate to work with kids
I took a few photos of the artworks, and see for yourself! and Feliz Día del Niño
*i laughed out loud when a kid wrote that he used patience as his technique...!
